Job Overview
Location: Richmond Hill, Ontario
Structure: Two-storey residential house with aluminum siding and an open parking space beneath the first level, rear deck present
Problem: Interior mouse activity reported in kitchen and basement
Service: Mouse treatment with exterior baiting and selective exclusion
Visits: 1
Summary
We attended a Richmond Hill residential property to address reported mouse activity inside the home. The service focused on exterior population control using secured bait stations and sealing identified entry points at ground level. Limited additional work was identified but not approved during this visit.
Background / Property Context
The home is a two-storey structure with aluminum siding and foundation exposure due to an open parking area beneath part of the first storey. Multiple utility penetrations and weep vents were present at grade, creating common vulnerability points for rodent entry.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported ongoing mouse activity indoors, primarily affecting the kitchen and basement areas.
Inspection & Findings
Our inspection identified several unprotected or compromised weep vents along the foundation that could allow mice access into wall cavities. A wall vent opening was also noted as a potential entry point. No interior inspection details were documented for this visit. A roof-level review identified roof vent areas that could benefit from sealing, but this work was not carried out.
Cause Analysis
Mice commonly exploit small structural openings at ground level, including weep vents and utility penetrations. The combination of foundation exposure and unprotected vents increases the likelihood of rodents accessing wall voids and interior spaces, particularly during cooler months.
Treatment / Removal
Two large, weighted, tamper-resistant exterior bait stations were installed in areas of observed activity around the structure. These stations were serviced by a licensed exterminator using commercial-grade rodenticide in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines. The placement was intended to reduce exterior rodent pressure and limit ongoing interior intrusion.
Exclusion & Repairs
As part of the approved scope, ten foundation weep vents were sealed using stainless steel vented inserts designed to maintain airflow while preventing rodent entry. One wall vent was protected with a galvanized steel vent cover. A proposed treatment for the rear deck area and additional roof vent sealing were assessed but not approved and therefore not completed during this visit.

Outcome & Confirmation
At the conclusion of the service, exterior baiting and the approved exclusion work were completed as planned. Identified but unapproved areas were documented for potential future service. No further work was scheduled at this time.
Technician Notes
The service was completed by our technician, Blerti. Exterior access points at foundation level were prioritized based on observed risk. Roof vent sealing was quoted following inspection but deferred per homeowner decision.
