Job Overview
Location: Richmond Hill, Ontario
Structure: Very large two-storey residential house with multiple garages and stone exterior
Problem: Ongoing mouse activity reported for over one year, primarily in the basement and kitchen areas
Service: Mouse treatment and monitoring
Visits: 3 visits
Summary
Our team completed a multi-visit mouse control program at a large residential property in Richmond Hill. The work focused on interior treatment, monitoring, and follow-up inspections in response to recurring activity reported over several years. Treatments were adjusted based on reported activity and site conditions at each visit.
Background / Property Context
The property is a large, two-storey home with multiple garage sections and a stone exterior. The basement contains utility areas and storage spaces, with finished living areas above. These features created multiple concealed interior zones suitable for rodent travel and harborage.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported ongoing mouse activity in multiple interior areas, mainly the basement and kitchen. Activity was described as intermittent but persistent, prompting repeat service calls over time.
Inspection & Findings
Interior inspections identified areas of rodent movement along basement walls, utility penetrations, and near kitchen baseboards. No obvious exterior entry points were confirmed during inspections, suggesting mice were already established within wall voids or interior spaces.
Photo documentation shows tamper-resistant bait stations positioned along wall edges, near utility lines, and in basement floor-level locations where activity was suspected. Concrete foundation walls, exposed piping, and unfinished floor sections were visible in several areas.
Cause Analysis
Large residential structures with complex foundations and utility penetrations can allow mice to access interior voids without obvious exterior damage. Once established, mice may travel between basements and kitchens through wall cavities in search of food and warmth. Intermittent activity over time is consistent with residual nesting and movement within concealed spaces.
Treatment / Removal
Mouse control was carried out by a licensed exterminator in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines.
During the initial visit, tamper-resistant interior bait stations containing commercial-grade rodenticide were placed in areas of highest activity. Additional exterior bait stations were installed to provide perimeter control and reduce pressure from surrounding rodent populations.
Follow-up visits focused on re-inspection and re-treatment in response to renewed activity reports. Interior bait stations were serviced and repositioned as required. Recommendations for additional exterior stations and optional disinfection were provided during later visits, though not approved by the homeowner.

Exclusion & Repairs
No structural exclusion or sealing work was performed as part of this service. Exterior inspections did not reveal clear entry points requiring immediate repair at the time of service.
Outcome & Confirmation
Following each treatment visit, no immediate increases in activity were reported. Recurrences occurred over extended periods of time, leading to subsequent re-inspections and retreatment. At the conclusion of the most recent visit, bait stations were in place and active, with monitoring advised.
Technician Notes
Richard conducted inspection and follow-up service visits, focusing on interior activity zones and ongoing monitoring. Access limitations were minimal, and all treatments were completed safely within the occupied residential space.
