Job Overview
Location: Richmond Hill, Ontario
Structure: Detached two-storey house with double garage
Problem: Mouse activity reported in the house and attic
Service: Mouse treatment
Visits: Four visits
Summary
We responded to reports of mouse activity inside a detached residential property in Richmond Hill. Our team completed an initial inspection and treatment, followed by repeat service visits over subsequent years when activity reoccurred. Each treatment was performed by a licensed exterminator in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines.
Background / Property Context
The property is a two-storey detached home with an attached double garage. Exterior foundation walls, utility penetrations, and venting are present at grade level. These features can be susceptible to rodent entry when gaps or deteriorated materials develop over time.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported hearing and observing mouse activity within the living space and attic areas. Ongoing concerns focused on repeated indoor sightings and potential nesting within wall voids.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial inspection, multiple potential entry points were observed along the foundation and exterior wall penetrations. These included small gaps near vents and utility lines, as well as openings at grade level that could allow mouse access. Interior inspection areas indicated conditions consistent with rodent movement within concealed spaces.

Cause Analysis
Mice commonly enter homes through small structural gaps along foundations and service penetrations. In this case, the presence of multiple exterior openings combined with ground-level access points increased the likelihood of repeated entry. Without structural exclusion, ongoing pressure from the surrounding environment can lead to recurring activity.
Treatment / Removal
Mouse treatment was completed using tamper-resistant bait stations placed in areas of observed and expected activity. Commercial-grade rodenticide was applied as part of a monitored control program. This work was carried out by a licensed exterminator in compliance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment requirements. Follow-up visits involved renewing treatment as needed when activity was reported again in subsequent years.

Exclusion & Repairs
Exclusion work was recommended following the initial inspection due to the number of identified entry points. The homeowner chose not to proceed with exclusion or structural sealing, and treatment-only service was provided during each visit.
Outcome & Confirmation
After the fourth visit, the homeowner reported no further interior mouse activity and confirmed satisfaction with the results of the treatment. No additional concerns were reported at that time.
Technician Notes
The initial inspection and treatment were completed by Blerti. Entry points were documented during the first visit, and treatment-only service was performed as requested. Repeat treatments were carried out during later visits when activity reoccurred, with no interior activity reported at the final service.
