Job Overview
Location: Richmond Hill, Ontario
Structure: Detached two-story house with double garage
Problem: Reported mouse activity inside the home and attic; possible wildlife activity noted by homeowner
Service: Mouse treatment
Visits: 4 visits
Summary
Our team completed a multi-visit mouse control program at a detached residential property in Richmond Hill. The service focused on inspection, placement, and ongoing monitoring of tamper-resistant bait stations. Activity levels declined steadily over follow-up visits, and no further interior activity was reported by the final visit.
Background / Property Context
The property is a detached two-story home with an attached double garage. The exterior includes foundation transitions, paved walkways, and multiple utility and structural interfaces where gaps can form over time.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported signs of mouse activity within the living space and attic areas. There was also concern about possible squirrel presence in the attic, though the primary request was for mouse control.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial inspection, multiple potential entry points were observed along the foundation line and at exterior wall transitions. Gaps were visible where concrete slabs met the foundation wall, as well as at other low-level exterior interfaces. These areas are consistent with common mouse entry routes. No direct wildlife access points were confirmed during this service.

Cause Analysis
Mice commonly exploit small gaps along foundations and exterior transitions to access interior wall cavities. Settlement, expansion joints, and aging materials can create openings large enough for rodent entry. Once inside, mice are attracted to warmth, shelter, and accessible food sources within residential structures.
Treatment / Removal
A licensed exterminator performed the mouse treatment in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines. Tamper-resistant bait stations containing commercial-grade rodenticide were installed in areas of observed activity. The treatment relied on repeated feeding, with mice returning to nesting areas after ingestion. No exclusion or structural sealing was performed at the homeowner’s request.

Exclusion & Repairs
Exclusion work was discussed during the initial visit; however, the homeowner chose to proceed with treatment only. Identified exterior gaps were documented but left unsealed as part of the agreed scope of work.
Outcome & Confirmation
Follow-up visits showed a significant reduction in bait consumption and activity. By the fourth visit, the homeowner reported no further mouse activity inside the home. The service was concluded with the customer confirming satisfaction with the results.
Technician Notes
The initial inspection and treatment were completed by technician Blerti, who identified multiple exterior entry vulnerabilities and installed the required bait stations. Subsequent visits involved rebaiting and monitoring, with very low activity observed during visits two and three. No interior activity was reported by the final visit.
